Garden Maintenance

Do you offer regular or one off maintenance?

Both! I offer weekly or fortnightly year round maintenance, but on occasion I have room in my diary to take on one-off clients.

Are you insured?

Yes, I am fully insured for all services the Castle-Hancock Gardening offers. This is a great question as Public Liability Insurance is not a legal requirement for gardeners.

Do you need power?

Not usually, any power tools I use are battery operated.

Do you spray chemicals?

I am licensed to spray - I hold the PA1 and PA6 spraying certificates which allows me to use hand held spray devices anywhere. Be aware than anyone spraying, even store bought weed killers, on any property other than their own need a full certificate.
I do not however spray regularly, only on the occasions it may be entirely necessary.

What do you charge?

It is hard to give a specific price without knowing the details, but I charge £26 (inc VAT) an hour for regular garden maintenance. One-off jobs would need to be priced up. I charge different rates for workshops and design work.

Do you mow lawns?

I really enjoy lawn care and showing people all the options for their lawned areas, however at present I don't have the equipment to offer lawn mowing.

Which areas do you cover?

I currently offer ongoing maintenance in the following areas:

  • Stibbington
  • Yarwell
  • Castor and Ailsworth
  • Sutton
  • Wansford
  • Wittering
  • Nassington

If you do not see your area on the list, but it is nearby to these areas, please do get in touch and I can see if it is possible.

Garden Workshops and Education

Where do you run workshops?

I offer workshops within a 15 mile radius of   PE8 6.

Our group usually meet in a hall but we’d like to do a practical workshop, do you have a garden we can come to?

Unfortunately I don’t have a large enough space at the moment, but I do hope to one day have a site to run events and courses out of. There are some practical courses I can run indoors (if they don’t mind some soil on the floor!), such as seed sowing and propagation, or softwood cuttings.

Me and some friends all want to learn about vegetable growing, could we book a session together?

Absolutely, it can be great fun to learn with your friends. I would run this in the same way I would a workshop for an organised group so just get in touch and we’ll see if we can make something work.

How can I book onto workshops?

If the workshops are public events, there will be a link to the hosts page on the ‘Workshops & Education’ page of this website, or a link to email. If they are private workshops you will need to speak to the event organiser.
